The 2nd episode of “The Newsroom” airs tonight on HBO.  I already have my DVR set and I look forward to watching it tomorrow…hopefully at least.  We’ll see what the day brings, but I can tell you that I’m excited to watch it so I’ll try to squeeze it in whenever I can.

What do you think will happen with ABC shows in the 2012-2013 season?  I think that some of their hit shows, like “Private Practice” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, will not do well next year.  “Private Practice” is losing Tim Daly and Kate Walsh, and “Grey’s Anatomy” left us with a cliffhanger that leaves the status of every doctor in question.  Do you think you’ll put up with the changes?

In the entertainment world, the 2011-2012 season ended in May.  While there are plenty of new summer shows that are underway, or making their debut, the typical TV season is still viewed as being from September to May.  This is an interesting list of the top TV shows for the 2011-2012 season.  I like to look at these lists because I always find a show that I want to check out.  Case in point, “Homeland”.  I remember hearing about it last fall, but I never got around to watching it.  Now that summer repeats are on the network channels, I’ll see if I can get it On-Demand.

It doesn’t seem like there are many network TV shows on the list.  If you don’t have access to all of the premium cable channels, you definitely miss out on a lot of great shows.  Good news that you can always watch an episode online, or purchase an entire season.

So what TV shows are on your top 10 list?

There are some refreshing differences between TV shows on cable vs. Network TV Shows.  One of the nicest differences is that cable networks tend to cancel a show 1 season in advance.  Meaning, they allow the show to have one final season to wrap-up story lines and give the show and characters closure.  There is nothing more annoying than when a show is cancelled abruptly and you’re left hanging, usually with a season ending cliff-hanger.

It will be interesting to follow the growth of this relationship throughout Season 3.  I think that their relationship is very real.  They may be in the process of healing, but they will always stick up for each other and help each other out.  It’s one of the great qualities of this show.  They don’t try to fake things.  Like a Boston accent.  This show is based in Boston, but none of the actors try to fake an accent.  Thank goodness for that!

Have Reality Shows just become a breeding grown for people looking to get into show business?  I think that Reality Shows can be put into several categories.  The competitions like “American Idol”, “The Voice” and “So You Think You Can Dance”.  Then of course there are the Reality Shows like the Kardashians and Jersey Shore that just follow people around.

It’s disappointing to see that viewership was down so much for the Tony broadcast.  I hope that it doesn’t negatively impact who they choose as the host for next year.  Or, for how they format and televise it next year.  I think that the Tony Awards are a great way to get a free Broadway ticket to dozens of shows.  It is a fabuloys night and I thought that this year’s show was funny and entertaining.

This year I think that plays are stronger on Broadway than musicals.  Obviously it’s harder to encorporate a play into the Tony broadcast, so perhaps that is why ratings were down?  Did you watch it this year?

What TV show provides the perfect mix of hot bodies, greed and plenty of drama?  Well it’s “Dallas” of course.  The revised “Dallas” premieres this week and it will be interesting to see how this series continues with the younger generation of Southfork residents taking front stage.  And will we still want to see Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy, or will it be difficult to accept them in these older roles?  I was a huge “Dallas” fan growing up, so I guess I’m skeptical about how this new version will hold up.  One thing is for sure, I know the show will be good to look at.

Other shows to watch this week include “Burn Notice” and “Suits”.  I’ve been reading a lot about the new “Bunheads” show on ABC Family, so I’ may check that out as well.  If you prefer a reality show, you may want to watch, “Take Me Out”.  The new dating game with plenty of hunky celebs making an appearance on the show.

There isn’t a lot to be excited about with the 2012-2013 TV Season for NBC.  And when I look at the returning shows, only “Fashion Star” and “Smash” are shows that I enjoy and watch on a regular basis.  It’s no wonder that NBC lags in the ratings.  I’ve already voiced my frustration with the cancellation of “Harry’s Law”.  NBC clearly doesn’t value any dramatic shows.
